Galerie EIGEN + ART

Galerie EIGEN + ART exists as a private gallery in Leipzig since 1983. The organisation was illegal till 1989, due to plenty activities and exibitions, it became a centre of young unadjusted art. The gallery moved to Fritz-Austel Straße in 1985 after being established at the Körnerplatz. Since 2005 it is placed in the former cottonspinnery Leipzig. In 1989 Galerie EIGEN + ART decided to work in temporary gallery rooms in all international art metropolises. Galerie EIGEN + ART started 1990 in Tokyo, then Paris, Berlin, New York and London. At first the project was supposed to be just temporary but 1992 they settled in Berlin.

Every artist represented by EIGEN + ART works with different medias such as photography, video, installation, painting and sculpture.
