Kunststoff e.V.

KUNSTSTOFF e.V. was founded in 1998 by young artists in Leipzig. When it began its various activities in Leipzig’s Spinnerei and its Kunstraum B/2 exhibition and event series in the former Spinnerei dispatch hall between 1998 and 2004, it was still a young art society with a small budget supplied by its own members. It has since become a well-known platform for artists of all disciplines, transregional and international projects and experimental exhibition formats (www.kunstraum-b2.net).

In 2005, the society went forward with its “Galerie b2” project – an independent producers’ gallery operating in the Spinnerei.

Its fundamental principles include openness, diversity and interdisciplinary art. KUNSTSTOFF e.V. complements existing Leipzig institutions, and, as a platform for a new generation of artists, spotlights new trends and opportunities in contemporary art. Its target audience is open and aware of the relevance of modern art in society, believing in art as a motor for new ways of seeing and acting.

KUNSTSTOFF e.V. engages in active dialogue with art trends that require a broader approach – recipients’ experiences, cultural memory and individual and interdisciplinary visions.
