Spinnerei archiv massiv

Founded by Bertram Schultze on July 21, 2004 as an exhibition space between the priorities of the area’s history and contemporary young art from the Spinnerei-studios: a museum and a gallery side by side. After exhibiting works of the artists Johannes Tiepelmann, Sandro Porcu, Edgar Leciejewski, Konstanze Siegemund, Margret Hoppe, Nicole Kegel, and Karl Goerlich until the year 2007, archiv massiv has expanded spacially and has additionally succeeded to the task of an information centre accommodating the increasing public interest in the Spinnerei. Under the direction of Konstanze Siegemund, a competent team for guided single and group tours through the site of the Spinnerei has developed. To the visitors’ own interest, individual focus areas such as architecture, art, factory revitalisation, or craft are considered in the course of the tours. With the continuous exhibition series «bildarchive» an artistically photographic documentation of the steady transformation of Spinnerei started in 2007. Since 2008 archiv massiv furthermore serves as a platform for products manufactured in the workshops at the Spinnerei.
