Josef Filipp Galerie

The Josef Filipp Galerie in the Spinnerei opened  with a show called “Grand Ouvert (from the cabinet of curiosities to the lucky bag)” in autumn 2006. The new distribution of the space and the light-lines in the 220 sqm hall was realized to plans by the Berlin architect Anne König. This produced four exhibition cabinets; their spatial forms relate to classical exhibition architecture forms while at the same time being entirely up with the times. They permit variable use, and also offer a protected, indeed intimate presentation form without denying the size of the hall. The crude floors and the hall ceiling are reminiscent of the space’s former use. The cabinets show all genres of contemporary art production.
